GET TO KNOW - Jillian Herrington - Special Education Teacher

Mrs. Herrington is in her 8th year of teaching and 3rd year here with us at Wright Elementary! She graduated from Saginaw Valley State University (Michigan) with a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood, with a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education.

Mrs. Herrington’s goal for her students this year is to meet the individual needs for her kids in order to close the gap in learning.

A NOTE FROM: Mrs. Herrington,

I grew up in Breckenridge, Michigan on a beef and cash crop farm. I completed my Bachelors Degree in 2007 at Saginaw Valley State University. I moved to Liberal, Kansas in 2014 and began teaching Early Childhood Special Education. I taught in Liberal for 5 years. In that time, I completed my Masters of Science in Early Childhood Unified Education. While teaching in Liberal I met and married my husband. I have Sadie who is 4 and my step daughter Drew is 19. We raise goats, horses and chickens. In the summers I help my husband bale hay. I enjoy growing a large garden with the help of Sadie. My family visits my side of the family in Michigan at Christmas and the 4th of July each year. I enjoy spending time riding horses and outdoors with my family. I began teaching at Wright Elementary in August of 2019 as the Life Skills teacher. In 2020 I moved to teach in the Life Skills classroom.

One interesting fact about Mrs. Herrington is that she was a volunteer at the Polar Express in a town near her home in Michigan!

Meet….Mrs. Herrington!
