Get To Know - Mrs. Tena Clark

Mrs. Clark has been teaching at Wright Elementary for 28 years, 15 years as a music paraprofessional, and 13 years as the music teacher! When she started college it was called West Texas State University. However, when she graduated, it was West Texas A&M University. Mrs. Clark graduated with a degree in General Studies and finished her alternative certification in music through Region 4.

Mrs. Clark hopes to instill the love of music in all of her students. She says, “Not everyone will grow up to be a scholar or an athlete…some will discover that music is their passion. Music is something you can enjoy for the rest of your life! My ultimate goal when 3rd graders leave my school and go to Williams Intermediate is that they are able to read music. They are then able to play a musical instrument when they enter 4th grade.”

A NOTE FROM Mrs. Clark:
I grew up in Muleshoe, Texas. I have three brothers and two sisters. All but one became educators. One of my sisters is also a music teacher. I've been married to my husband, Darin for 37 years. We have two children. Weston teaches 5th and 6th-grade music in Uvalde, Texas. Lindsay teaches elementary PE at River Road ISD in Amarillo.

One interesting fact about Mrs. Clark is she was the drum major in her high school band!
