The Perryton Rotary Club honored Third Grade Teacher, Sheila Barnes as the 2013-2014 PISD Teacher of the Year.  Each spring, the principals of each PISD campus nominate one of their teachers for the honor of Teacher of the Year. The Rotary Club then selects the winning teacher and recognizes them at one of their meetings at the beginning of the following year.

Mrs. Barnes was nominated by Wright Elementary Principal, Danny Gentry who said "If you were to describe Mrs. Barnes in a single word , it would be: Committed."  He went on to detail her commitment to her profession, her fellow teachers and her students.

As teacher of the year, Barnes will receive $1000 from the Rotary Club to be used in her classroom. She will also receive $250 for personal use. Congratulations to Sheila Barnes on this well-deserved honor.
